Engine Hyundai-Kia G4FA A brief introduction

  The Hyundai-Kia G4FA engine is a 1.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that is part of the Gamma engine family. It is equipped with a Dual CVVT system and is known for its use in various Hyundai and Kia vehicles, including the Hyundai Accent, i20, and Kia Rio. 

  The engine delivers a power output of approximately 122-128 horsepower (91-96 kW) and a torque of 154-157 Nm.

Gamma family: G4FA, G4FL, G4FS, G4FC, G4FD, G4FG, G4FJ, G4FM, G4FP, G4FT, G4FU.

  It features a chain-driven timing system, aluminum R4 cylinder block, and aluminum 16-valve DOHC cylinder head. The engine is designed to run on gasoline (AI-92) and complies with Euro 4/5 emission standards. 

During production, the engine has been modernized more than once, and the main update is the replacement of a huge “ram’s horn” exhaust manifold with a regular small catalytic converter. It was after this that the unit began to lift up due to the ingress of catalyst crumbs into the cylinders.
